Hello and welcome. My name is Jenny and I am the proud owner of Kitty Kare. I was fortunate enough to purchase the business in May 2020 from Lesley after several years of working for and managing Kitty Kare.
I have since added another branch to the business (Home Paws) which provides bespoke 'Live-in" home care for dogs, cats and other animals.
As we are a private company (as opposed to a franchise) we can maintain competitive rates for our clients as well as providing a first-class bespoke service.
I previously worked for a large well-known Veterinary hospital in Derby for 14 years and have gained a great deal of valuable knowledge and experience of all animals and animal care.
I have owned cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles, and other small animals my whole life. Being able to work with animals is an additional bonus, and I thoroughly enjoy looking after so many furry friends.
I now devote my time to maintaining the fabulous work that has been put into Kitty Kare since 2002 and to working on our new branch, 'Home Paws'.
As well as running the business, I will, of course, still be caring for your beloved pets as before and giving them the love and attention that they deserve whilst you are away from home.
I previously worked for 10 years at a busy veterinary practice where I gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge about animals.
I went on to set up Kitty Kare as a new business in 2002 because I felt there was a need for a different option to boarding catteries, particularly for elderly or infirm cats, diabetic cats, or very nervous cats.
Word very quickly spread, and Kitty Kare now has a small team of pet sitters covering most of the Derby area.
Kitty Kare is now owned by Jenny, but I am still part of the team and help with the admin side of things.
I have several cats of my own, most of which were rescued by Beccy. 4 were hand-reared by Beccy and myself from when they were just a few days old.
My other interests include studying Spanish language, photography, digital imaging, cooking, walking, and swimming.
Hi, I'm Susan. I live in Mickleover with my husband and our two rescue Burmese cats, Rupert and Lily.
I have lived in Mickleover all my life. My earliest memory is of living with a large ginger cat, and there have always been cats in my life ever since. Over the years I have had to deal with many sick cats and have therefore become experienced in all the different ways of giving medication to cats.
I am retired from my job as a Physiotherapy assistant at the Derby Hospitals and can now indulge my love of cats by working for Kitty Kare and being able to care for your cats whilst you are away.
My other interests include reading, gardening, and walking.
I am Derby born and bred and have lived in Mickleover for the past 24 years.
My first involvement with cats was when an affectionate mature stray female found me a few years ago and I absolutely fell in love with her. When she passed away, my husband and I decided to offer a retirement home to older cats that are often overlooked. As a result, this lovely black cutie, Tinkerbelle (in the photo), was adopted from the RSPCA.
Kitty Kare looks after Tinkerbelle for us when we go away, and it gives us confidence that our cat is always in safe hands. We have been very impressed with the attention to detail, and we are given complete peace of mind by Kitty Kare.
I love cats and all animals and am, therefore, very happy to now be a part of the Kitty Kare team.
My other interests include walking, traveling, and musical theatre.
My name is Susie. I have lived in Mickleover since 2008 and have been a cat lover all my life.
I currently own two lovely rescue cats that were hand reared as kittens. We adopted them after sadly losing our first cat at age 12.
I have recently retired from the NHS after 40 plus years, but realise I am not ready to relax and put my feet up just yet!
My interests include holidays and travel, reading, music, TV, animals, and their welfare, and meeting up with friends for meals and days out.
I am looking forward to meeting you and your precious pets and my aim is to look after them as well as I look after my own.
Hi, I'm Claire. I live in Mickleover with my fiancé, 2 children, 3 cats, a bunny, and a leopard gecko.
I've had cats all through my childhood, and I don't think there has ever been a time when there were no pets in the house.
I also work as a dinner lady at a local primary school and have various qualifications in childcare, special educational needs, and mental health training. I also volunteer at Derby Women's Centre when I can.
I absolutely adore cats and other pets too, understanding that they bring so much joy to our lives.
My other interests are tarot, mediumship & crystals, crafting, reading, and karaoke.
My name is Anne. I am retired and live in Mickleover. I moved here in 2021 to be closer to my daughter and family.
I have been a Kitty Kare client for some time and have always been very impressed with the high level of care given to my cat, Milly. I feel happy and confident knowing that she is being so well cared for and that my house is being checked regularly too.
I of course adore cats of all shapes and sizes. Milly is a rescue cat from Cats' Protection who now has a very comfortable pampered life with me.
I am very much looking forward to meeting our clients and looking after their lovely cats.
When I am not looking after cats I enjoy walking in Derbyshire and visiting various National Trust properties.
Hi, I’m Carole and I live in West Hallam.
This is me with one of my cats, Oscar. My other cat, Lucy, was a little camera shy!
Apart from my absolute love of cats, my other hobbies include going to watch The Rams to which I have been a season ticket holder now for several years.
I also enjoy going to the gym, growing plants for my garden from seeds, reading, and of course looking after your lovely cats whilst you are away.
I have lived in Oakwood for 33 years, and we have always had a cat around the home. My first priority after booking any holiday is Coco's care. Knowing she is safe and being cared for means we can enjoy our break. I love animals of all shapes and sizes. I have been lucky enough to travel extensively and to see many places... and I always seem to be found by a 'holiday' cat!
I am now retired, and when not traveling, my interests include painting, sewing, silversmithing, reading, and walking.
Helping Kitty Kare gives me time to enjoy and fuss all the different varieties of cats and enjoy their funny ways without bringing them all home with me. Some cats I have looked after for 11 years now, so I have an extended cat family!
My name is Sam, and my interest in animals of all shapes and sizes started way back when I was 14.
I have completed a Small Animal Care Certificate course at Broomfield Colleges and have worked for the RSPCA and as a receptionist/ care assistant for an emergency vets.
I have hand-reared baby hedgehogs, rabbits, and sooo many kittens. I have also nursed a severely injured cat back to health, resulting in him now being a permanent fixture in my home. Douglas (3 legs) rules the roost, bossing both my 2-year-old German Shepherd and me around demanding Dreamies.
My other interests include walking my dog, reading, and going to the gym.
After years of working behind a desk, I am now lucky to be looking after cats.
I have shared my home with a cat ever since my childhood and can't imagine life without them!
I have lived in Derby since 1992 with my husband and a series of cats. We were adopted by the little stray bandit, Zorro, a few years ago. He was living rough but now enjoys a life of luxury! This is a picture of me with Zorro.
For me, it is always a privilege and a pleasure to meet and care for a cat, and working for Kitty Kare gives me the opportunity to care for lots of different lovely cats, without taking them all home with me!
My other interests include gardening, walking in the countryside, and cooking.
Hello, My name is Katherine, and I live in Chellaston.
I first came across Kitty Kare almost six years ago when I was looking for bespoke holiday cover for my elderly cats and rabbits. Over the years Kitty Kare staff have become part of the family, and I am delighted to have now been invited to become part of the much-respected team.
I am very aware of the importance of trust when it comes to caring for 'loved ones' and have traditionally been employed to provide nursery education to pre-school children.
I have always been fortunate enough to own pets, and I would be comfortable adjusting to any array of furry friends that require love and reassurance whilst their owners are away on their travels.
My name is Heather and I'm a lifelong cat lover. I moved to Derby from North Yorkshire 25 years ago, bringing my 2 cats with me to live with my partner and his 3 cats. Caring for 5 cats who were learning to live together taught me a great deal about cat behaviour. Helping them to gradually settle into their new life together gave me such joy.
Sadly, we lost each one as they reached old age, but we now have two rescue brothers who are very much loved and great fun.
I have been a Kitty Kare client for many years and am now very happy to be part of the team of pet sitters caring for so many wonderful cats.
My other interests include reading, art history, music, gardening, cooking, and decorating.
Hello, I'm Alison, and I live in Hartshorne with my husband and our pets.
I previously worked in IT but since the pandemic I have opted for a more leisurely pace of life, and what could be more leisurely than making a fuss of so many beautiful cats.
Cats have always been a big part of my life. I previously did some vlogging for a You Tube channel called "Relax my Cat," which is basically TV for cats, helping to calm them, particularly at stressful times such as on bonfire night. I love all animals, and during my travels, have been lucky enough to meet and interact with many different creatures, from big furry animals to reptiles, birds, and creepy crawly insects.
At the moment, we have one cat called Gismo and six ducks.
My other interests include birdwatching, butterfly surveys, gardening, crafts, and photography.
Hi, My name is Nicola, originally from Chesterfield but moved to Derby in 2023. I have been brought up with cats and dogs and now live happily with two pampered male cats. I have joined the Kitty Kare team to spend more time with cats around my profession of 30 years being a hypnotherapist.
My name is Nicola and I live in Etwall. I had a career as a nurse before we relocated here. Now I care for my family and three rescue cats , Chewy, Minnie and Woolley.
I have had cats since I was a child and I adore them all! My mother ran a cattery in the past so I have always been around animals and understand how precious your fur babies are.
My cats are cared for by Kitty Kare whilst I am away and having that peace of mind that they’re safe and cared for means everything.
I also I love being able to walk in nature, yoga, and all things reiki and crystals. Building a trusting relationship is very important to me with clients and their cats . I’m very fortunate to do what I love, here at Kitty Kare.
